If there’s any gamedev people that follow me, I just found out about this game jam! The 20th anniversary of LSD: Dream Emulator is on October 22nd, and someone has created this game jam to celebrate it! Create games similar to LSD, or make a game that’s simply inspired by it. Looking forward to seeing the games that people make – submissions open on September 1st and are open until October 22nd.
I won’t be taking part, as I’m dealing with a lot of personal life stuff at the moment (as well as working on LSD:R!), but I hope some of you guys find this interesting! Anonymous asked: As you said a couple posts back, Sato acknowledged your remake, has he by chance contacted you, or appeared in some type of interview mentioning how he noticed you're reviving the game, etc etc? I haven’t been contacted, but in an interview with he mentioned me: “Now there’s even some guy who has taken it upon himself to revamp LSD and make it run on the PC. All on his own, of course. Without anyone’s permission. He shouldn’t be doing it, but I sympathize with his efforts.” So that’s pretty cool.
Anonymous asked: Heya, I just downloaded the linux version for the game but I'm not sure how to run it. Are there instructions for that anywhere? I’m not entirely sure how well the Linux version will work, it was something I threw together quite quickly a while ago. There should be an executable in the game folder (lsdr.x86), you may need to run ‘sudo chmod +x lsdr.x86′ to give it executable permissions. After this, running ‘./lsdr.x86′ should run the game. If that doesn’t work (would not be suprised) then I’ve been informed that the Windows version can be run under Wine.
EDIT: I would spin up a VM to try this out, but I’m kinda busy at the moment! Anonymous asked: is this an hd remake of the original game? Or do you plan on adding brand new areas to explore as well? I think this game has a lot of potential if there is completely brand new original areas to explore. It’s a remake that gives the player more options in terms of how they wanna play the game. For example, you’ll be able to turn the PS1 screen resolution and framerate on/off, in case you want the ‘authentic’ experience. Textures will be the same as the original (low-res), and the music will be different.

You’ll be able to rebind controls, use the mouse to look around etc. I’m aiming for almost everything to be configurable so people can play the game however they want.
In terms of brand new areas, the game will have mod support so people can make their own dreams to add to the game. After it’s released I might make my own mods, who knows. Thanks for the question!
